EDIZIONE SRL
Edizione S.r.l., an holding company fully controlled by the Benetton family, reported consolidated
revenues of 12.3 billion Euro in 2013 and the subsidiaries of the Group’s employ about 89,000 people.
Edizione operates in the retail sector, principally with the shareholdings in Benetton Group, Autogrill
and World Duty Free, and in the sector of infrastructure and services for mobility through its subsidiary
Sintonia S.p.A., the latter having a shareholding in Atlantia S.p.A. (Autostrade per l’Italia and Aereoporti
di Roma). Edizione is also present in the real estate, agriculture and hotel sectors, and has portfolio
equity investments in, among others, Assicurazioni Generali, Pirelli and Mediobanca.
Edizione has the objective of facilitating its subsidiaries’ expansion plans and strengthening their
presence in the relevant business sectors, through, among others, the acquisition of new shareholdings
both in Italy and abroad, enhancing the value of international relationships developed over the years.
RETAIL SECTOR
Gruppo Benetton
Benetton Group is one of the most well-known fashion companies in the world, with presences
in the main markets and with a network of over 6,000 stores which generate a total turnover of about
1.6 billion Euro in 2013.
The group has a strong Italian character whose style, quality and passion are clearly seen in its brands,
United Colors of Benetton and Sisley.
At the end of 2013 Benetton Group has launched a three year business plan aimed at giving maximum
market competitiveness to the brands owned, even through a deep innovation of the company structure.
It provides, in particular and with effect from January 1, 2015, a restructuring of the Benetton Group,
with the spin-off from the latter of manufacturing activities (weaving, knitting, spinning, dyeing,
packaging) and real estate business. Downstream of the reorganization Edizione will control directly
100% of Benetton Group (focused on the "core" components: brands, product, marketing, sales, retail),
as well as 100% of the company that will handle all manufacturing activity (with industrial platforms
in the Mediterranean area) and 100% of the real estate company.
Autogrill
Autogrill is the world’s leading provider of food & beverage services for travellers. With a turnover of
around 4 billion Euro in 2013, about 71% of which generated abroad, it is present in 30 countries with
about 55,000 staff and operates over 4,500 points of sale in more than 1,000 locations.
Airports and motorways are the group's major channels, followed by railway stations and by a selective
presence in high streets, shopping centers, trade fairs and museums.
The group offers to its customers a highly varied selection, including both proprietary products and
concepts (such as Ciao, Spizzico, Bistro, Bubbles, Beaudevin and La Tapenade) and third-party concepts
and brands. The latter include local brands as well as names recognized around the world such as
Starbucks Coffee, Burger King, Brioche Dorée. The group manages a portfolio of more than 250 brands,
directly or under license.
World Duty Free Group
World Duty Free Group (WDFG) is one of the world’s leading airports travel retailers. With a turnover
of around 2.1 billion Euro in 2013, WDFG is present in 21 countries across 5 continents with about 8,900
staff and operates over 500 stores both duty free and duty paid, mainly located in airports, through
a partnership concession model. The group provides a large range of products, mainly comprised
in the categories “beauty”, “drinks”, “tobacco” and “food”.
WDFG has developed its own unique commercial concepts, tailored to match the purchasing
preferences of travellers passing through the more than 130 locations in which it operates.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRAVEL SERVICES SECTOR
Sintonia
Sintonia S.p.A. involves, through a minority shareholding, prestigious partners – namely GIC Special
Investments (a Singapore Government Investment Fund), GS Infrastructure Partners (an infrastructure
fund managed by Goldman Sachs) and Mediobanca S.p.A. – with which it shares strategies
and development objectives in the infrastructure and mobility service sector both in Italy and abroad.
As of December 31, 2013 Sintonia holds a 45.56% interest in Atlantia which owns the 100%
of Autostrade per l’Italia S.p.A. and the 95.90% of Aeroporti di Roma S.p.A. In 2013 Atlantia group
has a turnover of about 4.2 billion Euro.
Atlantia – Autostrade per l’Italia
Autostrade per l’Italia is the parent operating company in the highway concession business
and manages about 5,000 km of toll road network in Italy and abroad. In Italy, the group is the main
operator with a network of 2,965 km. The group is also active abroad, with participations in fast growing
countries such as Chile (6 operators), Brazil (4 operators), Poland (1 operator) and India (1 operator).
The group is the world’s no. 1 operator in free-flow collection and leader in motorway design
and widening, safety and energy saving technologies.
Autostrade per l’Italia has currently an important plan for investment in toll road infrastructure,
with about 22 billion Euro of planned investments in Italy, 9 of which already completed, to strengthen
900 km of network.
Aeroporti di Roma
Aeroporti di Roma has an exclusive concession for the operation and development of Rome Fiumicino
(1st Italian airport and 7th in Europe for number of passengers) and Ciampino airports.
In 2013 Aeroporti di Roma registered a total traffic in both airports of over 41 million passengers
with more than 230 destinations that may be reached by over 100 airlines operating in the two airports.
With the recent approval of the new concession scheme, Aeroporti di Roma has raised its investment
plan to support the growth of traffic in the coming decades.
Grandi Stazioni
Grandi Stazioni S.p.A. has a concession from the Italian “Ferrovie dello Stato” the management,
upgrading and enhancement of no-rail activities in the 14 main Italian railway stations, crossed over
by more than 700 million people a year. He company also manages the stations of Central Prague
and Marianské in the Czech Republic.
Edizione, together with partners Pirelli, Caltagirone and SNCF (French railways), holds 40%
of Grandi Stazioni share capital through Eurostazioni.
OTHER HOLDINGS
Real estate and agriculture
Edizione owns and manages real estate assets in the main Italian cities, as well as significant agricultural
enterprises, in Italy (the Maccarese farm near Rome extends to over 3,000 hectares) as well as
in Argentina (its Argentinean farms in Patagonia cover a territory of about 900,000 hectares, with over
280,000 heads of livestock).
