ABSTRACT

This projects deals with the design & development of a theft control system for an automobile, which is being used to prevent/control the theft of a vehicle. The developed system makes use of an embedded system based on Global System for Mobile communication

(GSM) technology. One can control the ignition of the engine; say to lock it or to stop the engine immediately.

The main concept in this design is introducing the mobile communication into an embedded system. The designed unit is very simple& low cost. The entire designed unit is on a single chip

OBJECTIVE AND GOALS OF PORJECT

The objective of the circuit is to build an microcontroller based on the functions of a 8051 integrated circuit.

The main aim of the project is to design and develop an advanced vehicle locking system in the real time environment. The user can send a STATUS message from his cell phone and as soon as the GSM module gets the message, it will check for the user’s authentication and if found to be valid, it will immediately send the details of the locations like the latitude and the longitude using GPS module. So the user can get to know the exact location of the vehicle. At the same time message will b sent to a personal computer where user can get the exact location of vehicle pointed out on the Google maps.

SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION

Keil Uvision4

The µVision IDE from Keil combines project management make facilities, source code editing, program debugging, and complete simulation in one powerful environment.

The µVision development platform is easy-to-use and helping you quickly create embedded programs that work.

The µVision editor and debugger are integrated in a single application that provides a seamless embedded project development environment.

MATERILES & METHODS

Microcontroller- AT89S52

The 8051 family of microcontrollers is based on an architecture which is highly optimized for embedded control systems. It is used in a wide variety of applications from military equipment to automobiles to the keyboard.

The AT89S52 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8bit microcontroller with 8K bytes of in-system programmable Flash memory. The device is manufactured using Atmel’s high-density nonvolatile memory technology and is compatible with the industry- standard

80C51 instruction set and pin out. This microcontroller had 128 bytes of RAM, 4K bytes of on-chip ROM, two timers, one serial port and four ports(each 8-bits wide) all on a single chip.

GSM MODEM

This GSM modem is a highly flexible plug and play quad band GSM modem for direct and easy integration to RS232.

Supports features like Voice, Data/Fax,

SMS, GPRS and integrated TCP/IPstack

GPS MODEM

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is global navigation satellite system which uses a constellation of between

24 and 32 Medium Earth Orbit Satellites that transmit precise microwave signals that enable GPS receivers to determine their location, speed, direction, and time.

RELAY

A relay circuit is typically a smaller switch or device which drives (opens/closes) an electric switch that is capable of carrying much larger current amounts.

Or a circuit which operates the coil or electronic actuator· from one source and uses a separate power source to drive an isolated device. Generally speaking, a relay circuit is a circuit that uses a small mechanical switch or a semiconductor device (with associated circuitry) to energize a switch or a semiconductor device (with associated circuitry) to energize a· relay, which will then close a contact set to complete another circuit. This· system is used by most people on a daily basis, and it is used to start a motor· vehicle.

RESULTS

This project deals with the design & development of a theft control system for an automobile, which is being used to prevent or control the theft of a vehicle. This system is designed to improve vehicle security and accessibility. With the use of wireless technology vehicle owners are able to enter as well as protect their automobiles with more passive involvement. Ideally, this project could be made more convenient and secure with the use of satellite modems instead of cell phones as tracking device as the system may fail when there is no network coverage.

CONCLUSIONS

In the present growing economy of India, the country also faces the uprising of crime Rate. The offense has generated losses in properties, valuables and money and many Solutions are performed to minimize and to prevent the crime. Vehicles theft, which is the main concern for the conduct of this project, is one of the biggest crimes which are hard to eliminate.

The latest trend of Vehicles theft involves the vehicles being towed away, and also alarm signal capturing where the alarm disabler signal can be traced and duplicate by a thief with the device to capture the signal and use it to disable the alarm. There are many alternatives to prevent the vehicles theft, common vehicles alarm system which nearly all cars have the system installed, and also Global Positioning System (GPS) where the whereabouts of the vehicle scan be traced.

Other alternatives include steering and gear lock, tire lock, hidden “kill” switches which incapacitate fuel flow and many others .
