TECHNICAL
The iMDHT technical team
• Shared Technical Objective: Toolkit that lowers
the bar and accelerates development of
innovative applications
• Shared Vision
– Model Driven Tools creating computable artifacts
– Community Development
• Open Standards
• Open Source
– Service Oriented Architecture; necessary to address a
complex healthcare eco-systems.
iMDHT Software Components
Software:
– MDHT (OHT project). Used by ONC and NIST in achieving Meaningful Use.
Funded by IBM and VA. Information modeling tool that generates computable
artifacts for developers.
– MDMI (OHT project). Approved Object Management Group Standard.
Implementation Guide being developed by the HL7 SOA Cross Paradigm
group. Transformation modeling tool that generates computable artifacts for
semantic interoperability.
– DTS (OHT project). Terminology services technology used by VA and
IHS. Terminology repository and modeling tool that manages industry
standard and proprietary terminologies, and supports services (and
computable artifacts) required for semantic interoperability.
– Socratic Grid (Github Project). Thought leaders in military and business
services healthcare software. A platform for real-time analysis services using
inferencing technologies.
The integrated toolkit is achieved by using open standards and computable
artifacts.

Transformation
iMDHT is adaptable and extensible
• New APIs for innovative applications: Sharp,
Meaningful Use n+1, and others
• Dynamic Querying across Distributed Systems
• Innovative terminology efforts: CIMI, Legos, and others
• New business services
• Extensible to workflow processes: care coordination
New applications to address the above can be accelerated
with iMDHT and extensions to iMDHT
Value
• iMDHT
– Is pragmatic. (See Immunization Use Case Proof of Concept)
– Provides a simplified interface for any and all developers to deliver
new, innovative, point of care healthcare solutions faster.
– Is an adaptable platform that can incorporate inevitable changes due
to new healthcare practices, medicines, discoveries, and technologies
that will be able to produce a continuous stream of innovative
applications.
– Enhances existing assets and investments.
