Asst. Principal Mr. Jackson 8th Gr. Counselor Mrs. Warner Middle School Transition • The 7th grade year marks an important milestone in a child’s education; it is the first year of secondary education. Worley Middle School offers a unique environment to promote this transition from an elementary instructional model to the secondary instructional model. • Students are introduced to new activities that demand a lot of their time such as Athletics, Band and Choir. Getting homework done and attempting to have a family or social life can be a little overwhelming during these times. • Students START working on time management and organizational skills prior to transitioning to middle school. Worley’s Houses • Students are placed in one of Worley’s 6 houses based on their Advisory class. • Houses are made up of teachers and students. • Houses participate in friendly, positive, competition against other houses throughout the year, which creates a positive school climate. These courses generally require more time for homework and operate at a much faster pace than the regular 7th grade on level course. Note: Any student taking Pre-Ap Math will be required to take the 8th grade STAAR test. We suggest that students only enroll in 2 Pre-AP courses during their 7th grade year. th 7 Grade Courses Our school's master schedule is built on student course requests. Teachers are assigned a daily schedule based upon the requests of all 950 of our students. The deadline for any schedule changes is April 11th 2014. Select courses that you are truly interested in taking. Provide the counselors with alternative choices for electives.
