Pilgrims are on a journey towards God Tourists are on a journey to see a new culture • 2. Pilgrims invest themselves; they listen to people, they share their thoughts with others, they are open to Jesus and St. Francis speaking to them through different people and places. Tourists try to remain untouched on a deep level by their experiences. • 3. There is a desire that the pilgrim will be affected by the pilgrimage Tourists try to remain detached and unaffected by their experiences; they are observers, not participants in the journey • 4. Community is formed for pilgrims and by pilgrims Community is not always formed for or by tourists Important Notes The Franciscan Church of St. Bonaventure Pilgrims are being hosted in Madrid by the Conventual Franciscans during the pilgrimage in the College of San Bonaventura (a High School in Madrid) These accommodations will be VERY simple At the end of the pilgrimage we will have 2 nights in a hotel in Central Madrid and free time to explore Madrid The Franciscan Church of St. Bonaventure 10-Day Pilgrimage .
