 All students who are EXEMPT from taking the HSPA MUST take the
Alternate Proficiency Assessment [ APA ] in Mathematics and
Language Arts Literacy as designated in each student’s IEP.

Non-Testing ODP Placements
 Students receiving homebound or bedside instruction MUST
be tested unless they are too ill to participate.
 Testing may occur ANYTIME during the 2 week testing period
EXCEPT persuasive prompt which MUST be on a Thursday.
 Examiner MUST be:
Licensed professional employed by the district.
Trained by school or district test coordinator.
Sign appropriate School Security Checklists.
Maintain test security at ALL times.
Return secure test materials to school coordinator ASAP
after testing is completed.

Limited English Proficient Students (ELL)

ALL LEP students MUST be tested. There are NO exemptions.

FORMER LEP students are NOT permitted LEP accommodations.

You MUST provide

1. Additional time - 150% of the regular administration time: add extra time to EACH
individually timed part.
2. Use of BILINGUAL TRANSLATION dictionary, preferably one normally used by
the student as part of the instructional program.
3. Translate directions ONLY into the student’s native language. Translation of
passages, items, prompts, and tasks is NOT permitted.

You MUST test LEP students in rooms SEPARATE from
general education students.

Completed ALL graduation requirements
EXCEPT passing HSPA & are NO longer enrolled.
 Grade MUST be gridded RS.
 Ideally should test at diploma granting high school BUT may
test at any high school.
 CDS code MUST be gridded using the diploma granting high
school CDS codes.
 HSPA Bar-Code Labels MUST be used if available AND have
correct CDS code.
 Returning Student Header Sheets MUST be used.

ADULT HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENTS
 Grade MUST be gridded AH.
 CDS code MUST be gridded using the adult high school CDS
codes the student attends.
 Adult High School Students whose test of record is the HSPT11
and have NOT passed ALL sections of the HSPT11 MUST pass the
HSPA as follows:
 NOT passed HSPT11 Math: MUST pass HSPA Math.
 NOT passed BOTH HSPT11 Reading & HSPT11 Writing: MUST
pass HSPA LAL.
 HSPA Bar-Code Labels MUST be used if available AND have
correct CDS code.

Ensure students are testing in the correct room
Verify which section of test each student should take (HSPA roster)

ACCESSING DATA IN POWERSCHOOL
1. Click on the following hyperlink and log into
PowerSchool.
2. Select all grade 12 students by typing into the Search
for Students box: grade_level=12
3. Under the list of all the students, there will be a
dialog box prompting you to select a function via a
dropdown menu Select “Quick Export” from the
dropdown menu.
4. In the dialogue box, copy and paste the fields below.
Note only the items in BOLD font are required fields
in the Student Roster Template. The regular type
represents additional information that is helpful in
answer folder completion, but is not required to
complete the roster template

PACKING LISTS:
Packing Lists will identify all materials received by a school.
• Review and confirm that you have received all the materials listed.
Do not open any of the shrink wrap at this point. Count materials
while leaving the shrink wrap sealed.
• Answer folders are not “secure” and the shrink wrap can be
removed at any time after your initial count.
• The shrink wrap may be removed from the test booklets 24 hours
prior to testing. The individual books themselves must remain
sealed.
• The Persuasive Writing Prompts for Oct. 3rd (Purple) must remain
in their shrink wrap and in a secure location until the morning of
Oct. 3rd.
• The make-up Persuasive Writing Prompts for Oct. 10th (Blue) must
remain in their shrink wrap and in a secure location until the
morning of Oct. 10th .
Note: you will not receive the make-up Persuasive Writing Prompts until Oct. 4th .

Section Opened” and complete Irregularity
Report. Return everything to OPPRA
Student Becomes Disruptive or
Cheats During Test
VOID the section for that day with a V2.

administration. If this happens during either
section of LAL, both sections are Voided.

Students will be listed alphabetically by grade.
Your MUST review and edit data for ALL students. The roster shows the demographic
information EXACTLY as it will appear on the October 2013 Reports.
+ Add Students
- Delete student
Click “ADD STUDENT” button at the top of the Student Roster screen to
enter all the student’s missing data.
Click the “NOT AT THIS SCHOOL” check box to request a removal
from the roster. If a student is not enrolled in your school AND is NOT
an out-of-district placement.
If you find multiple records for the same student, combine the
duplicate records by clicking the “Merge” box.
Submit Changes
Click the “Submit” button after you have either edited or indicated “No Change”
for all the students on the roster.
