What we liked most about this flexible Programme is that it is not
just a one-visit initiative like so many others – the Be the Best you
can Be! Programme integrates into the curriculum across multiple
subjects including PHSE and PE, inspiring every student through
workbooks and themes over more than one term.
Our students, indeed the whole School, have been engaged and
empowered to follow their dreams in whatever subject including
art, drama, maths, music and science, culminating in a celebration
event with the presentation of the unique medallions from the
Royal Mint.
The staff have also greatly benefited especially from the training
provided at the CPD Staff Development Day that precedes the visit
by the Olympian or Paralympian Special Speaker to Launch the
Programme with the students.

A challenge we
just couldn’t pass up!
www.21stcenturylegacy.com

Now there’s a challenge…
A challenge we
just couldn’t pass up!
Dr David Hemery CBE
began by inspiring our Teachers.
Mark Richardson
inspired our boys…
This programme got us to think deeply…
About who inspired us, and why?
If we are truly to become the best we can be,
We need to look to those who also wish the same
for us, those who provide our…
inspiration, support and encouragement.
Our Grand Parents…
Our parents…
Our friends….
Our role models…
Even our teachers !!!
Whilst we are lucky to have so many people
to look up to,
What we have learnt from this, is that,
inspiration also has to come from within.
Since we have worked on the project,
we have come to understand, appreciate
and chase the Olympic and Paralympics values
in our own lives.
Respect
Fair play; knowing our limits; and taking care
of our health and our environment.
Excellence
How to give the best of our self, on the field of
play or in life; taking part; and progressing
according to our hopes and dreams
Friendship
How to understand
each other despite any
differences
Determination
Being determined to achieve our goals,
no matter how many times we fall trying to get
there!
Courage
Our state of mind or spirit that lets us face danger
or fear with confidence and bravery.
Inspiration
To fill our selves with
enthusiasm and creative ideas.
Equality
Our belief that all people ought to be treated
equally.
This is how “Be the Best you can Be!”
has changed our thinking
“You don’t
know if you’re
good until you
try.
Then don’t
stop until you
achieve it!”
Tom
“I am in control
of my mind and
what I can
achieve.
if I believe,
I know I will
achieve!”
Carter
“Being the best
you can be is
like a clock, it
only works if all
the parts work
together.”
Ryan
“The best feeling
in life comes not
when you win,
but from when
you come back
from failure!”
Ben
“No dreams
come true until
we wake up and
make it
happen.”
Jack
“Try and fail but
do not fail to try.
Don’t let fear
get in the way
of our dreams.”
Dan
“If you are
going to
dream, dream
big, but have
big
intentions!”
Rhys
Completing the “Be the Best you can Be”
Programme,
has taught us to never let go
of our dreams…
It has also taught us,
the achievements we are most proud of,
are probably the ones we have had to
struggle the most on.
Our school ethos
is to prepare all its pupils,
to play on any field,
with confidence and courage.
To dare to dream…
To aspire to achieve,
and to turn our dreams into reality.
To know that, courage doesn’t always roar.
It’s the quiet voice at the end of the day,
that says,
“I will try again tomorrow.”
We will always try to “Be the Best we can Be.”
We owe it to those who have believed in us,
and to ourselves.
and, when the time is right….
We will pass it on to our children.
But not just yet!
How will you
Capture the Enthusiasm
that the 2012 Games
will generate?
