Did You Know: • Georgia has the 10th highest childhood obesity rate in the nation. Currently, 35% of Georgia’s youth are overweight or obese. Because obese children have a higher risk to become obese adults, we need to take action now to help give our current and future citizens the opportunity to live a long, healthy and full life. • Working with Walk Georgia can be used in tandem with your school’s physical activity goals, such as Power Up for 30 program or wellness council, and could even help your school gain additional funds! Walk Georgia is perfect for schools! • Walk Georgia has built-in group functions to accommodate classrooms, grades, teacher organizations and more! Walk Georgia worked with 17 schools during its pilot phase to ensure it was school-approved! • Walk Georgia is working to provide lesson plans so teachers can incorporate fitness and learning all in one lesson!
