Current progress on the Nyngan Solar
Plant:
› Over 50% of the posts for the solar
plant have been installed
(~78,000)
› Electrical works on site are
progressing, including installation
of the 33kV feeder cables
› Works for energisation and
activities for generation approvals

Current progress on the Nyngan Solar Plant
connection:
› Connection works are practically complete.
» 132kV transmission line (Essential Energy)
» 132kV Switchyard (Essential Energy)
» 132kV Substation (AGL)
› 132kV transmission line was energised on 30 Aug
2014 as planned. This is a highly coordinated
activity with CPP and Essential Energy – refer to the
following photos.
› Interface works with First Solar’s 33kV Switchyard
are progressing  132/33kV transformer

› Communication works in the Nyngan 66kV (town)
have been complete for the interim service

› 78,000 of the 140,000 steel posts have been installed
› 59,000 of the 140,000 tilt brackets have been installed
› 12,500 Tables installed
› 678,400 of the 1,350,000 panels have been delivered
› 50 of the 77 PCS (Power Conversion Station) units and all the PVCS
(Photovoltaic Combiner Switchgear) units have been delivered
› Operations and maintenance buildings have been installed
› Electrical work underway – underground cabling and combiner boxes

Solar PV module installation
Whilst the first modules were installed during the
launch of the solar plant on 30 July 2014:
› First Solar is planning to start installation of the
modules
› This will generate a degree of timber pallet and
cardboard waste material.
› Cardboard waste is being recycled by a
commercial operator.
› We have spoken with Nyngan Men’s Shed about
timber pallet materials – are there any other
local organisations interested in these materials
