AUTUMN DE FOREST BIO
At age six, Autumn showed her artwork as
a featured artist at the prestigious Malibu
Fine Art Festival. At age seven, Autumn
sold her first painting for over $1,000. As
an eight year old, at her first auction,
Autumn sells over $100,000.00 in 16
minutes, and signs a worldwide
Publishing and Management Agreement.
Autumn is featured on a child genius
special on Discovery Channel, and is
interviewed by Matt Lauer on NBC's Today
Show.
In her ninth year, Autumn signed a
worldwide licensing agreement, and
continued to sell an overwhelming
amount of artwork - totaling over
$400,000.00.
Arts in education is a cause that is very dear to
Autumn's heart, and Autumn is often invited
to guest lecture at schools and organizations to
promote the profound importance of the arts
in education, and the folly of administrators
and politicians that choose to cut those
programs from public schools - especially
underprivileged schools.
Autumn's ability to express how learning
through the arts has empowered her has led to
an invitation to speak at Harvard University on
the importance of keeping arts in the schools.
Autumn appeared along with art world
legends Peter Max and Chuck Close at this
year's annual National Art Educators
Association (NAEA) conference in New York
City.
As her paintings fetch up to $25,000 apiece,
Autumn insists upon supporting charitable and
humanitarian efforts including arts
education, and has created artwork totaling
$60,000 for relief efforts in Haiti and Japan.
AUTUMN DE FOREST TALKING POINTS
The first time Autumn was ever in New York City,
it was to be interviewed by Matt Lauer on the
Today Show, and the BBC shut down a portion
of Times Square to shoot a piece about Autumn.
Autumn lectures nationally at schools, corporations on the
importance of the arts in education, and has been asked to
speak at Harvard University.
Autumn was commissioned by Disney to create a suite of
Disney Princess paintings.
Autumn was featured on a special entitled "Genius Kids"
on the Discovery Channel.
Autumn's paintings have sold for as much as $25,000 at
auction at age seven.
Autumn is the youngest living descendant of Robert W. de
Forest, who was the Director of the Metropolitan Museum
of Art in NYC, where the American Wing was named in his
honor.
Autumn has numerous known and collected 20th Century
painters in her family including Roy de Forest (American,
1930-2007), Lockwood de Forest (American, 1850-1932)
and George de Forest Brush (American, 1855-1941).

PARK WEST GALLERY
“The art of Autumn de Forest already exhibits
a maturity and depth that many artists never
achieve. She is an amazing person, an avid
reader and a sponge for all that is good
around her. She and her parents have chosen
me to be her art dealer. It truly is a serious
responsibility but more so a blessing”. Albert
Scaglione – Founder & CEO Park West Gallery

HURRICANE SANDY DONATION
To honor the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Sandy, Autumn has created a special tribute
painting to be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to the Hurricane Sandy NJ Relief
Fund. A giant replica of this commemorative piece of art was unveiled the first week in July at
Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Waterparks in Wildwood, NJ as part of the opening celebrations of
Morey’s Piers’ new artBOX, a first-of-its-kind boardwalk artist colony made from re-purposed
shipping containers. http://www.moreyspiers.com/landing-page/autumn
"American Graphic"
I was inspired by Grant Wood - he did the original
"American Gothic“ during the Depression. I like
Grant Wood because even famous painters had
dude-crushes on other painters.
Grant Wood had one on Albrecht Durer, a painter in
the Gothic style. That is why Grant Wood named his
"American Gothic", because he felt he was putting
his own spin on it.
That made me feel that it was completely reasonable
to borrow ideas and styles, because even the
painters we think are classic now, borrowed from
painters before them.
I did this painting for Crayola, and used my crayons
which I melted down and turned into encaustic
medium, which is just a fancy word for painting with
wax.
The pink crayon represents my feminine personality,
and a ray of hope.
"Barbie Marilyn“
This painting is about Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol and Barbie. I Iike Andy Warhol
because of his ideas about Art.
I like the idea that whatever I put a frame
around could be art - even ordinary things
like soup and soap.
By painting Marilyn Monroe like those
things, she became a brand of
merchandise too.
The moment I got Andy Warhol and
Marilyn Monroe, I knew I wanted to paint
Barbie Marilyn.
"Dripping Hearts“
I believe we are all on the Earth for a reason. We all have
gifts that we can give the world before we die.
This painting is what I imagine the inside
of my heart looks like. The gold drips are
my feelings that are attached to my love.
Each one stands for an idea of something
that I want to do in my life, to give back to
the world.
The grown up trees stand for artworks that
I have already given to charities to help
people.
The road is the narrow path that I want to
stay on so I can accomplish all of these
goals in my life.
