 A technological break through was essential in rice
production to meet the food requirement of ever
increasing population
 Active participation of faming community acts as a
catalyst for rapid diffusion of resource conservation
 So this is the need of hour to introduce some modern
techniques like “parachute technology in Rice”
INTRODUCTION TO PARACHUTE
TECHNOLOGY
 Parachute rice transplanting is a technique of tossing
rice seedlings, uprooted from plastic trays containing
soil ball, in a projectile manner into a puddled field
DIMENSION OF PLASTIC TRAYS
 Size of plastic tray is 23”×13” which contain 434 plugs
 0.5” wide and 0.5” deep
METHOD OF RAISING NURSERY
 2 to 3 healthy seeds are broadcasted in each plug of the
tray followed by placing a thin layer of soil over it
 About 160-200 trays are sufficient to raise nursery for
one acre
 Light irrigation is applied frequently
 Nursery take only 25-30 days to attain the height of
20cm that can be uprooted easily
METHOD OF TRANSPLANTING
NURSERY
 Seedlings after being uprooted from the tray with a soil
ball are thrown manually in a projectile manner for
planting upright
 A solo spray machine is used to broadcast the rice
seedlings
 In this method a steel tray is attached with the
machine at 60° angle to drop seedlings in a projectile
way

 Increase in yield from 30-40%

PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION OF
PARACHUTE TECHNOLOGY
 Parachute technology has been obtained from china
and now is being introduced In Punjab for getting
positive results of paddy crop
 Under this technology the nurseries of paddy would be
sown In trays and after some time the plants would be
shifted to agricultural field under specific methods of
technology
 45,200 parachute trays would be utilized during the
demonstration of this technology in

 200 parachute trays would be used for raising a
nursery for one acre
 In Sialkot 50 demonstration plots, Gujranwala 40 and
Hafizabad 13 plots would be prepared under this
technology

PRESENTATION
 Our main objective is to increase the per acre yield
 By
ensuring only 80,000 plants per acre at
transplanting the per acre yield could be enhanced by
20-25%
 But by using this parachute technology population of
100,000 plants per acre could easily be obtained so off
course we can get a good yield
