Economic Sociology and New Theoretical Directions, Noors Slott, 12-15 September 2013 Under the title Economic Sociology and New Theoretical Directions, the Department of Sociology at Uppsala University proudly welcomed a number of outstanding international scholars from Europe and the U.S. in honor of Richard Swedberg for his lifetime achievements and scholarly activity in the field of economic sociology at the conference venue Noors Slott in Sweden from September 12-15 2013. As the conference title indicates, the event was not solely dedicated to celebrate one of the key figures of this vibrant sub field of sociology, but also to reconsider state of the art theorizing in economic sociology and its contribution to general sociology. The conference program put together by Patrik Aspers and Nigel Dodd focused on three major thematic threads: I. Creating Economic Worlds with contributions by Jens Beckert, Nigel Dodd and Karin Knorr Cetina; II. Consolidating Economic Structures with contributions by Bruce C. Carruthers, Victor Nee, Frank Dobbin and Laurent Thévenot and III. Enacting Economic Relations with contributions by Nina Bandelj, Kieran Healy, Patrik Aspers and Phillipe Steiner. The conference was funded within the ERC-project Coordination by Evaluations and Valuations: Market Logic Inside and Outside the Economy situated at the Department of Sociology at Uppsala University and also gave young researchers working in the field of economic sociology the chance of bringing in their fresh perspectives and new ideas to the latest theoretical innovations and research sights.
