Cotton Gin changed production of cotton from one person
cleaning one pound per day to one person cleaning 50 pounds
per day.
– This caused:
• People to move West for More land
• Cotton exports to increase
• People starting growing only cotton
– Cotton is King!!
• Native Americans lose their lands
• Many more slaves are needed to clean all the cotton
