Save the Sidewalk - what
•
Campaign towards among citizens about the city's
accessibility
•
Message: keep the sidewalk free of obstacles; no
inconveniently parked bikes, cars or other objects.
•
Campaign materials and different kind of actions
such as experience trail, street theatre moments,
exhibition, photo contest, reward-action etc.
Save the Sidewalk - why

• People need to be reminded about how important it is to
keep the sidewalks free of obstacles
• Accessibility
• Make the sidewalks safe and accessible for all.
Save the Sidewalk - results

The first Save the Sidewalk campaign was
introduced in 2008 and mainly tried to reach the
students of Leuven.
•
Other Flemish cities like Antwerp, Ghent (2009) and
Mechelen (2011) have also organised Save the
Sidewalk actions.
•
Currently Leuven, Kortrijk and Waregem are
participating in the campaign.
