OVERCOMING GIANTS
I SAMUEL 17:4 -54
David and Goliath
We all have our fears and
enemies, our Giants.
– LIFE CAN BE A GIANT
 Many Examples, Sickness (Cancer,
Mental Illness, Diabetes, Vision,
etc.) Loss of a loved one, an
unfaithful spouse, consequently
Divorce, loss of a child (other than
death) Financial issues, Family
Issues in general, Church issues,
etc.
We all have our fears and
enemies, our Giants.
Things that cause us to look upon
them as though all is lost As In
Paul’s journey to Rome by ship
when a great storm arises.
 ACTS 27:20-25
Hopeless, Weariness when it seems we will
never reach our goal - I Thess. 4:13
SIN IS A GIANT
 Many times we “create” bring our
own Giants upon ourselves by our
own sins just as Israel did.
 Sin is any transgression of God’s
law. I John 3:4
 Sin has wage that it will dish out –
death
Romans 6:23
SATAN IS A GIANT
 He is portrayed as LION I Peter 5:8
 Someone that we Wrestle with –
Ephesians 6:12

the battle for him

about 9 feet 9 inches.
- weighted between 90 – 200 lbs,

shaft equal to hold and carry it in

troops as many as sands of seashore

C. David: = youngest son, a young man
healthy and handsome.
- had a “pocket full of rocks (5) and a

the battle for him
David and Goliath
I SAMUEL 17:4 -54
David trusted God to fight the battle
for him. - Vs. 17: 32 - 37, 47
We too can overcome our Giants as
David did.
 1. By meeting the Challenge –


HEAD ON, AT A RUN
I Samuel 17:48-51
 2. Not in Fear of a Giant, but Confidence
in God. PSALMS 3, PSALMS 27:1-3
We too can overcome our
Giants as David did
Realizing God will not let us be tempted
with more than we can bear –
 I CORINTHIANS 10:13
 Realizing that if I am on God’s Side, no
one can stand against me –
 ROMANS 8:31
 “I do all things through Christ which
strengthens me.” PHIL. 4:13

We must trust God to defend
us.
Draw close to God - Resist Satan
and he will FLEE from You – Do
not give him a place in your life.
James 4:7, Eph. 4:27
– GOD/CHRIST are BIGGER than any
Giant we can ever face
– We don't have to be afraid. Jesus is
always with us to protect us and give
us courage.
