Presentation of ABOA MARE 23.05.2012 ABOA MARE MARITIME EDUCATION IN TURKU SINCE 1813 • The maritime training in Turku has a long history. The navigation school was established in 1813 and became the first school to educate students to a profession in Finland. • From beeing a school with 10 students in year 1813 the establishment is nowadays running the training of around 500 students. • The name of the school has changed for several times during the years. Since 1.8.2008 the name Aboa Mare is used.
