CCS – Introduction
• “An event that had the potential to cause injury or damage”
• Close call reporting – key to improving safety on our sites
• Launched June 2011
• Originally targeted at all suppliers working on NR sponsored
construction sites
• 9,763 close calls entered in the first year
• Lack of data fields in CCSv1 made it difficult for data analysis.
• August 2012 – Change of approach:
– System mandated on all Principal Contractors
– Sub-Contractors to report close calls through PCs

• Redesigned user interface to facilitate smarter data capture
• Now includes extensive close call categorisation and project data
enabling smarter analysis and trending
• Intelligent bulk uploading – system validates your spreadsheet and tells
you where you have made an error and why
• Option to choose a primary cause from a comprehensive list of incident
factors
• Reduced workload – system only sends high risk and open close calls
for review by the Responsible Manager.
• System administration made easier.
• Now includes functionality to track feedback to the reporter
