• 851 shoot days equating to £18m estimated spend in the County
• Team of 2 based at Elstree Studios dedicated to promoting & serving production in

Film & TV Industry: Contribution to the
Hertfordshire’s Economy in 2013/14
• 77 Productions with 341 shoot days equating to £8.5m estimated spend in the
County during 2013/14
• From statistical information provided by productions (excluding multiplier effects), a
major film project may typically spend circa. £42K a day on local employment and
services whilst a television production will spend in the region of £17-19K a day
• Hertfordshire is located within the ‘super-region’ of South East England and London,
accounting for approximately 60% of the UK’s film and TV production
• Creative England begins tracking Studio Spend in 2014/15 – Warner Bros. Studios
Leavesden, Elstree Studios and BBC Elstree Centre
• Creative England working in partnership with VisitEngland, VisitBritain and the GREAT
campaign to promote England as a first class filming destination and quantify the
impact of film tourism
• Film Tourism is estimated to be worth £1.9 billion to the UK
Film & TV Industry in Hertfordshire: The Future
• Ongoing support of Creative England’s Hertfordshire Film Friendly Partnership
 Bi-annual meetings hosted by Creative England, attended by filming contacts at
all 12 of our Hertfordshire District & Borough Councils, Hertfordshire County
Council and Hertfordshire LEP
 Aim of partnership is to ensure productions that filming in Hertfordshire
happens as easily & effectively as possible by sharing experiences, expertise and
best practice with the common goal of bringing more production to
Hertfordshire
• Signing of Film Charter – a clear public statement of commitment to proactively
supporting filming in Hertfordshire

Consideration of a possible Enhanced Partnership Agreement with Creative England to
capitalise further on Hertfordshire’s opportunities. Bespoke activity could include:

• Tracking and sharing of estimated Economic Impact of Filming in Hertfordshire
• Deliver tailored marketing initiatives – I Love Filming in Hertfordshire…,
Welcome Packs, Spotlight on filming in Hertfordshire
• Deliver tailored event initiatives – Crew networking event, Educational event,
Industry Familiarisation event, Locations event
• Deliver bespoke training package for Hertfordshire’s Friendly Partnership
members on the tools needed to be film friendly to ensure production receive a
professional and joined up service
