Surah Al-Fatiha
Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem
In the name of Allah,
the most Gracious,
the most Merciful
Ar-Rahman = most Gracious (giving)
Ar-Raheem = most Merciful (forgiving)
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alamin
Praise be to Allah,
Lord of all of the worlds
Alhamdulillah = all praise is for Allah
Rabb = Lord
Alamin = all that exists (man, jinn)
Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem
The most Gracious,
The Most Merciful
Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem are two of
Allah’s 99 Names. Knowing His
names helps us know Allah better.
Maaliki yaumid Deen
Master of the Day of Judgment
Maaliki = master
Yaum = day
Iyyaaka na’abudu
wa iyyaaka nasta’een
You alone we worship
You alone we ask for help
Ibadah = worship
Ihdinas siraatal mustaqeem
Guide is to the Straight Path
Sirat = path
Mustaqeem = straight
Siraatal ladheena an ‘amta
alahim
The path of those who have earned
your favor
Siraat = path
Ghairil maghduubi' alaihim
waladaaleen.
Not of those who have earned Your
anger or gone astray.
Aameen
Ameen.
Hadith: “When a person says
ameen the angels also say Ameen
and if his Ameen coincides with the
Ameen of the angels his previous
sins will be forgiven”(Bukahri)
