Objectives:

Analyze the eulogies of Brutus and Mark Antony for Pathos, Ethos, and
Logos.

Compare and discuss the effectiveness of the rhetoric used in each
speech.
DO NOW:
In your reading log, write today’s date and answer the following
question:
Thou art a citizen of Rome during the reign of Caesar and thou
hast been asked to join the conspiracy against him. What is thy
response? Be sure to giveth a reason for thy answer.
Pathos: appeal to emotion (sadness, anger,
guilt, etc.)
Ethos: establishes the speaker’s credibility
with the crowd through trustworthiness,
personal experience, position/profession,
etc.
Logos: appeal to logic, a fact-based argument
