The Writing Process A WebQuest for 5th Grade Writers’ Workshop Designed by Caroline Coleman Ott |Introduction | Task | Process |Resources | Evaluation| |Conclusion | Credits | Objectives | Standards| Let’s begin our adventure: • We all have stories to tell. • Therefore, everyone is a writer. • We’re going to work together to learn the 6 stages or steps of the writing process. • Writers tend to switch frequently among the steps as they work. It is very useful to think about writing as a process; it is not step-by-step. • We will study what writers do during the writing process: prewrite, draft, revise, edit, evaluate, publish The Task: You will be completing a flap book to record information about the 6 stages or steps of the writing process. The Process: 1. Take a blank flap book from the literacy table. 2. Write the 6 steps of the writing process on each of the 6 top flaps. 3. Create your own visual to remember each stage. 4. Research, summarize, and record 5 bullet points facts in your own words about what happens at each stage underneath the flap!
