Overview
• Python Script compatible with Arc 9.3 and higher
• Author: Adolfo Diaz, NRCS
• This tool imports multiple soil surveys into one
File Geodatabase
• It creates the proper relationships between all
SSURGO data tables, including map unit and
component tables
– SSURGO metadata at:
http://soildatamart.nrcs.usda.gov/SSURGOMetadata.aspx
• It can clip your imported files to a bounding area
of interest, if different than survey extents

• Download access will be moving to Web Soil
Survey (WSS) at WSS 3.0 release

– Download Spatial AND Tabular (database) files
– Download Shapefiles
• File Geodatabases are not supported for download at
this time
– Select the Indiana Template Access 2002
Database, latest version (version 33 as of 4/26/13)
– Select a coordinate system for best compatibility
with your work and the geographic location of
interest
