I am... •Aracely Zamudio •A student at the University of Houston •A hopeful, future, digital designer! What am I about? • I attend the University of Houston, and hope to soon major in digital media, which will hopefully combine my love of art with the innovations of today’s technology • I love art. Even when I was a child, I cannot remember a time I wasn’t drawing. If not on paper, then on walls (which my parents were never too happy about). Music! •This is a lovely tune by TV on the Radio called “You” •This video is here to fulfill the video requirement of this project, but also because I love it, and I do listen to it to inspire myself while working. What’s this about? In the following slides I will give you some information about the road to becoming a digital designer. This is what I hope to someday hope to be , because I believe this career will allow me to combine my love of art with today’s amazing technology to make stunning designs. What is a digital designer? A digital designer is someone who mixes their creativity with technical skills to create designs using various medias. They make work in various areas, from making flyers to making video games, or even advertisement. A designer will create different types of designs and layouts. Education • Many 4-year institutions offer bachelors in Digital Media – Bachelor in Fine Arts is also acceptable – Masters in Fine Arts is great to accompany a bachelor in Digital Media • Fine arts schools offer associates in design – These are good enough for entry level positions • Designers must be knowledgeable in different technologies from HTML to Photoshop in order to make designs for different situations. Job opportunities The world of digital design is vast with many different job opportunities. Here are just a few of the areas designers get into • Advertisement • Graphic design • Video game design • Animation • Web design A designer can work in an office as well as be freelance. Design Principles Any designer will at least begin knowing the basic design principles because you use these to make designs. There are 6 basic principles of design 1. Proximity 2. Contrast 3. Emphasis 4. Alignment 5. Repetition 6. Unity A good design will have all of these. Here are examples of the principles of design This is contrast.
