Students need to be introduced to DegreeWorks at
orientation as THE critical advising tool available to
them.
◦ DegreeWorks should become part of a new student’s world
from the first day of their first semester at PSU.
◦ It’s where they go to see how their transfer credit was applied.
◦ It’s where they go when planning course selection for the next
semester.
◦ It’s where they go when grades are posted to evaluate their
progress towards their degree objective.
◦ It’s where they go to perform a “what if” analysis when
considering a major or change of major.




Universal adoption of DegreeWorks for advising
students on program requirements and course
selection.
Promoting the regular use of DegreeWorks by
advisees from their first semester at PSU.
Use of DegreeWorks in advising sessions.
Commitment to an understanding that the
DegreeWorks is the “database of record” and the
definitive statement of a student’s program
requirements and her/his progress towards
graduation.
