Advanced Academics: Criteria to Consider

For English, Science, Math and History: Students have demonstrated
high achievement, have good study habits, have an interest in learning
and are seeking academic challenges.

For Math 7 Honors: it is an acceleration of the mathematics
curriculum which requires students to master the content assessed on
the Math 8 SOL. Students who have not completed Advanced
Mathematics 6 may need support and /or require additional effort and
study to be successful.

Algebra 1 Honors Requirements
 Advanced Math in 6th grade
 IAAT (Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test) score above 91st percentile
 Score of 500+ on Math 7 SOL

School counselors will start visiting elementary schools for
academic advisement beginning tomorrow. Please review and sign the
“Course Selection Sheet” that your student will bring home and have
them return it to their school counselor the next day.
