Grant
To Increase Student Achievement for ALL students while closing the
existing achievement gap for low income and SPED students
To provide All students with a rigorous, equitable, relevant, program of
studies
To create a school climate that provides personalized learning
environment for All students, staff, family, business and community
partnerships
To successfully implement a Freshman Academy that successfully
eases the transition from middle to high school and successfully
begins the personalization process for ALL freshman
Year 1 Goal
• Implement 8.5 program (pilot) - Expand
• Expand advisory for all students - includes technical assistance PD
• CPT training for all teachers / PD in MI-theory and Reluctant learner
• Freshman academy planning - includes PD
• Administrative PD for change Breaking Ranks II CSSR
• Expand freshman transition orientation
• Revise program of studies for rigor / Increase Graduation
Requirement
Year 2 Goals
• Implementation Freshman Academy with technical assistance
• Eliminate CP2 level classes Math / English
• On-going PD for instruction and assessment
• Expand freshman orientation program
• Expand advisories for career decision-making for grades 10-12
• Implement a shadow program for grades 10-12
• Expand parent outreach
• Develop PPP’s for freshman / PD support for freshman teacher teams
Year 3 Goals
• PD for all teacher regarding differentiating
instruction ongoing
• Enhance career planning for grades 10-12
• PD for all teachers regarding the reluctant learner
ongoing
• PD for all guidance counselors regarding Naviance,
Accuplacer, Career Planning etc.
• Expand credit recovery programs and intervention
programs for students
Year 4 Goals
• Planning for grade 12 service learning project
• PD for all teachers regarding ongoing training
Professional Learning Communities
• Expand partnerships with businesses and area
colleges includes AP / Dual Enrollment opportunities
• PD for data team
Year 5 Goals
• Implement Grade 12 service learning project
• Review of progress towards achievement of overall
goals yearly
• Planning for full sustainability of all programs and
structures beyond grant
SLC Grant funding will help us with...
Ongoing staff professional development:
Teacher teaming, pathways to college support,
successful transition planning, teaching reluctant
learners, creating purposeful advisories, grading
and assessment, data teams, PLC, differentiating
instruction at the HS, freshman transition
programs, learning styles / MI theory, skillful
teacher, ….to name a few
