Big Bag Book Talk due in November. • Word of the Week • Spelling Bee 4 Math • Envision Math • Problem of the Day/Daily Spiral Review to review cumulative skills • Math journals: written explanations to problems done in notebook (explain how…) • Materials: text book, practice book, notebook (should be brought home each night) • Please encourage your child to show his or her work • Other materials: enrichment and re-teach pages, manipulatives, leveled centers, electronic computer games, text book/movies online, BrainPOP • Friday Facts and Marking Period PreAssessment 5 Social Studies • Scott Foresman History of the World series • Begun in 5th grade and continued into 6th • Units 1-3: Beginnings of Civilization, Ancient Civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece, and Rome learned through the 5 Themes of Geography • Supplemented with Brain Pop and United Streaming Videos • Geography awareness: desk maps, write on maps, atlases, wall maps • Aware of life outside of Little Silver: discussions, current events, relating history to our lives today 6 Homework Policy • No homework on weekends unless it’s a long term project • Homework board needs to be checked every afternoon because homework on the web might change • Homework warnings will be sent home before a detention.
