WEALDSTONE FOOTBALL CLUB FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME in association with Stanmore College EDUCATION WHERE WILL I STUDY? Stanmore College WHAT COURSE COULD I STUDY? Due to the way we schedule our football training on the Scholarship, students have the entire curriculum offered at Stanmore to choose from. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE TO STUDY? There are a number of potential options: 1. BTEC First Dipolma (equivalent to 4 GCSE’s) 2. BTEC National Certificate (equivalent to 2 A-Levels) 3. A Levels WHAT GRADES WILL I NEED? BTEC First programme – Four GCSE D grades BTEC National – Four GCSE C grades or above including English language A Level – Six GCSE C grades or above including English, Maths & Science CAN I GET ANY OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AS PART OF PRGRAMME? Students have the opportunity to complete Premier Personal Trainer qualifications and NVQ coaching awards in addition to their studies. FOOTBALL WHAT OPPORTUNITES WILL I BE PROVIDED WITH? U18’s - English Colleges Premier League and Conference Football Youth League WHERE DO I TRAIN AND PLAY MATCHES? Training and matches take place on 3G astroturf pitches at a professional football facility WHO WILL BE COACHING ME? FA ‘A’ Licence and Level 3 coaches WILL I BE SUPPLIED WITH KIT? Every student will be supplied with personalised tracksuit, training kit (including drill top and waterproof) as well as matchday kit (home and away). WILL THE COURSE COST ME ANYTHING? All coaching, access to professional training facilities and league registration fees will be free of charge. Each student will need to pay for their training and matchday kit which will cost in the region of £200. WEALDSTONE FOOTBALL LADDER RYMAN PREMIER LEAGUE Every Scholars goal. Play in the Ryman Premier Football League and potentially a higher stage like former scholars Jermain Beckford and Carl Martin. CAPITAL LEAGUE LEAGUE Fro those who show excellent attitude and have the requisite ability, students will be recommended to play matches under floodlights on Wednesday evenings with the Reserve team U18 / CUP SIDE There are two under 18 squads playing in the Premier Division of the English Colleges League and the Conference Youth League SCHOLARSHIP TRAINING This is where you start. Your attitude and ability will determine how far up the ladder you make it. WEALDSTONE SCHOLARSHIP SUCCESS STORIES Jermaine Beckford progressed from the Wealdstone Scholarship into the Club’s first team before being sold to Leeds United and in 2010 to Everton FC. Carl Martin is another graduate of the scheme who went on to play for the Club’s first team before being sold to Crewe Alexander in 2009. Marvin Morgan progressed into Wealdstone’s first team from the Scholarship scheme onto Hayes and Yeading before being sold to Woking and in 2008, moving onto to Aldershot. Reece Yorke represented England Colleges while on the scheme and signed for Barnet FC directly from the scholarship where he was offered a professional contract in 2010.
