Environmental scanning is the process of gathering/analyzing information about demographic, economic, industry/workforce, socio-cultural, education, technology, and fiscal factors that influence the direction and goals of our enrollment (from recruitment to graduation). The outcome of the ES is the SWOT analysis From the SWOT analysis, the outcome is the identification of critical or strategic issues. 8 NEXT STEPS: ENVIRONMENTAL SCAN Who What When How • Establish a sub-committee to work on ES • IEPR staff plus 2-3 EMC members • Environmental Scan Report • Identify final data requirements • Analyze the data • Draw implications to identify critical issues • Establish a timeline • Define milestones •Determine how sub-committee reports progress to EMC •Determine outside reviewers , if necessary •Determine process of approving or vetting results from Environmental Scan 9
