Only students taking a grade 12 French or French Immersion course will be tested. The assessment fee is waived for these students. The fee is $60 for other students who wish to be assessed. The Certificate states that the student has achieved a level of proficiency as defined by the EECD. The courses students take will influence the options available to them after high school. Some options for students who wish to pursue a post-secondary education are: ◦ Apprenticeship A minimum of Grade 12 or the equivalent to Grade 12 is required to enter into an apprenticeship program. ◦ College Requirements vary according to program. ◦ University Admission requirements vary but on average you need minimum of 5 Grade 12 courses (including English) in university approved courses. (May need upwards of 6 courses in some universities outside of Atlantic Canada.) • March 17 – 25 ◦ Guidance Counsellors will be delivering presentations to English classes to help them with their course selections. • March 19 ◦ Parent Info.
