Imagine – John Lennon
John Lennon
John Lennon (19840-1980) was the founder of
The Beatles (1960), but in 1969, he married the
artist Yoko Ono, and together they made an
album that generated much controversy because
it showed two naked on the CD. John Lennon
was killed in 1980 by a fanatic fan in front of his
house with a shot.
The song
The song that opens the album, "Imagine, "
became a hymn to peace. It speaks of his
ideal utopia of a world and invites us to join
him. In his letter, Lennon says that if you
imagine the skies in a spiritual sense, does
not exist.
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say,
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will live as one
