Green laser. From construction works. ATCo happened to be looking with binoculars when hit. • Couple of hours glare and impaired vision. Consulted physician. • No permanent damage ANSP roles • Protection of own staff against threat • Passing on attacks to authorities Protection against threat • Advisory to all operational staff • • • • • • • • • Look away from source Shield eyes if possible, lower blinds Increase intensity of Tower lighting DO NOT rub your eyes Inform colleagues, arrange handover Inform traffic in case of great disturbance Inform the TWR – SUP Inform the police so lasing can be tracked. Note the event in the log. Communication with authorities • When pilot reports laser illumination: – Acknowledge – Note report in log – If repeated illuminations: inform police. • Weekly – Transcript of log is sent to authorities and police for statistical evidence and tracking. Summary • Laser threat to be taken VERY seriously • Role of ANSP is limited
