One mother of 6 fled a year ago when her house was destroyed by
a rocket. She now lives in a tent in the Zaaatri refugee camp, Jordan.
When she fled, two of her girls were left in Damascus. ‘We can’t survive
like this,’ she says. ‘I have two girls who were left in Damascus and
I don’t know anything about them.’

Agencies working in the region are struggling to keep up with the
growing need; things are worsening – more support is needed urgently.

Tearfund’s focus is helping people who have been displaced from their
homes. We’re working through partner agencies to help people find food
and shelter; eventually we hope to help people return home.
We expect our response to extend over a number of years and we’ll
spread the funds we raise to enable this to happen.

Almighty God
Today we remember before you the people of Syria.
Our hearts ache for their pain and suffering.
Lord we ask for your comfort to be made known.
Loving Father
We pray for all who are responding in love in Syria and in the surrounding countries.
Bless them as they work day and night to help those in need.
Lord we ask for your mercy to be made known.
Prince of Peace
We ask you to raise up peacemakers
Grant discernment and wisdom to leaders and others with influence,
that a road of peace may be found.
Please help us to be faithful in your ministry.
Lord we ask for your peace to be made known.
Amen.
In my distress I called to the Lord;
