It is located in much
of Canada, Asia, and
some of Europe.
Canada or Arctic
Circle.
Types of our Biome

Coniferous forest, Taiga, and the boreal
forest.
Most of these names are just saying Taiga
so there aren’t different locations or
facts!
Climate
The Taiga Biome only has two seasons.
Summer and Winter.
In the Summer, Taiga is warm and all of
the snow from the winter melts.
In the Winter, Taiga is VERY cold. It snows
about six months of the year and is
under 30 degrees for half of the year.
Climate


The average range in temperature is
below freezing for 6 months of the year.
The average rainfall is 25 to 75
centimeters per year! The Taiga biome
has the 3rd greatest percentage of
rainfall, other than any other biome.
Producers
Trees and moss or plants are the
producers in the Taiga biome.
 Only 8 species of trees or plants exist in
the Taiga biome.
Some examples are Club Moss,
Sphagnum Moss, Twin Leaf, Bracken
Fern, Shin Leaf, Blueberry Bushes, and
Crowberry Bushes!!


Consumers


Reasonable amount of consumers!!
Deer, Wolves, Coyotes, Bison, and
Moose.
Snowshoe Rabbits


Deer usually eat fresh grass and falling
fruits from trees.
Moose

Moose usually eat plants, grass, and old,
dry, weeds.
Voles

Voles eat dirt, grass, and plants.
Second level consumers!
Some second level consumers are Lynx,
Wolves, Coyotes, Bears, Snakes, and
Porcupines!
1st: Voles
2nd: Snakes
3rd: Coyotes
Lynx
Lynx eat rabbits, birds, and
small rodents.
Wolves

Wolves usually eat elk, deer, moose, and
other rodents.
Black Bears

They rob eggs, eat deer and moose.
They are omnivores.
Coyote

Coyotes eat elk, deer, and also veggies
or fruits.
Amur Tigers
Amur Tigers eat deer,
moose, horses, and cows, if
they can.
Red Foxes
Porcupines

Porcupines rob eggs and eat other small
rodents.
Snakes

Snakes eat small rodents, plants, and
large insects.
Decomposers
Earthworms and Fungi
Earthworms

Earthworms break down animal
carcasses and eat plants also.
Fungi

Break down animal carcasses is their
job!
Biome destruction

Many people in the Taiga have to hunt to
live. And obviously, if you live in a place
where that is what you have to do, then
go ahead. But people are poaching
animals. (Animals being hunted, not for
survival, just for there rare furs).
Conservation

Many people in Taiga are putting a limit
on hunting endangered species like,
Beavers. They are very endangered right
now. You may not know but…Forest fires
and snow storms help! They destroy
plants so that in the new year, they can
make new plants!
