Lines • Traditionally, Motor Carriers could access S.S. Line chassis @ Marine Terminals and Railroad Ramps & not be billed for the use of the chassis. • Recently, various S.S. Lines have declared that the Motor Carrier must provide their own chassis in various USA locations. • Philadelphia is one of the locations, named by several lines, that Motor Carriers must provide their own chassis. Motor Carrier Options • Motor Carrier to secure their own fleet. • Straight Chassis Lease from Flexi-Van Leasing, Inc. 16 locations throughout the U.S.A. and 1 location in Canada. • Flexi-Day Program – daily rental rate/ pick and drop chassis same day. • Chassis Pool User Agreement- access chassis @ Marine Terminals, Railroad Ramps & container yards. Servicing Philadelphia Currently, Flexi-Van Leasing, Inc. provides chassis to Motor Carriers from it’s facility in Camden, New Jersey: Reliable Trailer 2630 Mt. Ephraim Avenue Camden, New Jersey 08104 856-962-7900 Chassis types available: 20’ sliders, 40’ gooseneck, 45’, 20’ &40’ triaxle, 20’ tank and 40’ tridem chassis. Future Plans for Philadelphia Flexi-Van intends to expand it’s chassis operation into Philadelphia to provide near and on dock access to chassis. Current Chassis Shortages • Motor Carriers to lease chassis on a long term agreement to ensure availability of chassis. • Daily leasing from multiple chassis providers in and around the Philadelphia area. • More than one chassis provider on water terminal, rail ramps – giving the Motor Carrier a choice of vendors and the ability to negotiate pricing. Potential Monopoly on Pier Located Chassis – Flexi-Van’s look into the future: Stakeholder Requirements •Ocean Carriers •Freight Handling Facilities •Motor Carriers •Chassis Providers •Beneficial Cargo Owner •Third Party Logistics •Vendors Imperatives •Gray Chassis Operation •Open access, competitive market for all stakeholders •Compliance Multi Provider Based Pool Structure Affords the efficiencies of a large gray fleet operation but maintains the element of choice and competition for the users. -FMCSA RegulationsImpact of these Costs to Flexi-Van Leasing, Inc. • As a leasing company, we have always followed D.O.T./IICL criteria when repairing chassis. • Registering chassis in the GIER and following up on DVIR’s (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report’s) & DVER’s (Driver Vehicle Examination Report) has had a nominal effect on FV’s costs.
