Leaders Scheme?

A specialist Explorer Scout Unit, Part of the District

Ongoing programme of training

To provide support to enable Young Leaders to
work effectively in Section of their choice

To develop leadership skills

Preparing the leaders of tomorrow?!
Who’s it for?

ANY young person (14 – 18 years of age)


Not just Explorer Scouts
Working in:



Beaver Colony
Cub Scout Pack
Scout Troop


Recommended not their own within 6 months
Encourage to attend normal ESU

Provision of Balanced Programme
What is involved?

11 instructional modules

1 compulsory module




Within 3 months of joining Young Leaders’ Unit
1 to 2 hours each (except K – First Aid)
Flexible delivery
4 Missions (projects)
