“The World would be a better place if...” National Reflections program has been around since 1969. Encourages students to bring a unique theme to life in 6 different categories. Local Units 1st and 2nd place winners per grade per category compete at Forsyth county council. Forsyth county council 1st and 2nd place winners will move on to compete at the Georgia PTA state level*. * This is optional. If your PTA or the winners do not wish for their work to move on to state level for judging, we will not send it. Establish a deadline for entries. (Your schools 1st and 2nd place entries are due to Forsyth County Council by: October 29th between 10a and 12p at the Board of Education). Making sure your PTA is in good standing. Look for qualified judges for each category – only 1st and 2nd winners in each category for each grade level and 8 special artists for each category will be judged at county council. Order awards – ribbons, medals, certificates. Work can be illustrated but is not a part of judging Entries should reflect grade appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling Pre-K, K, First grade and Special Artists can dictate to an adult Submit 1 original and 2 copies, in a manila folder with entry form stapled at the top to the back of the folder Have the student make a copy. Works are not returned Musical Composition: A new work of art created for this theme, include a title and artist statement The musical piece can be for voice, instrument or a combination Students are not required to perform their own composition Submit on CD, with name, grade and school on CD and CD holder Entries not to exceed 5 minutes No notation or score sheet is required for Primary and Intermediate grades Middle and High division grades must have score sheet included Scores sheet size not to exceed 81/2 x 11 Submit entries in a 9x12 brown clasp envelope with a sheet protector stapled to outside of envelope with entry form inside the protector Have student make a copy to keep. Works are not returned Photography A new work of art created for this theme, include a title and artist statement Single print or collage may not exceed 11”x14” including mat Shrink wrap is highly recommended to protect artwork Mount photo on cardboard mat or some sort of sturdy material No names on photograph and no graphics added to image allowed Place the entry form in a sheet protector; secure with masking tape on the back of artwork, on top of protective wrap The use of copyrighted places, items, characters, etc can be used if not the main subject of the work Visual Arts A new work of art created for this theme, include a title and artist statement No entry is to exceed 24”x30” including mat Must be flat, may not be more than 3/8” thick No canvas stretched on wood frames or framed artwork accepted Submit entry backed by canvas board or pressboard not exceeding 3/8” Shrink wrap is highly recommended to protect artwork Do not laminate or use food wrap Do not sign the artwork, no names should be visible Place the entry form in a sheet protector; secure with masking tape on the back of artwork, on top of protective wrap The use of copyrighted places, items, characters, etc can be used if not the main subject of the work Consent Form •Required for any actual person(s) filmed, recorded, or photographed in an entry. •Entries without a consent for each person, will be disqualified. •Remember all work must be the creative product of one student only.
