Adobe Acrobat ELA • Students were not included in the original order. Pricing is based on FTE, and will match your Microsoft Assessment numbers for FY13 • Distribution expected to be on OSU SLS • Expected availability: Early next month (hopefully next week) • “Upgrades” from Acrobat permitted • Discussion with some departments regarding departmental ELA’s for broader collections Microsoft Renewal: 6/30/13 • Current Campus Agreement and EES expire on 6/30/2013. Our agreement is an IUC contract • IUC CIO’s have requested a more strategic contract with Microsoft – Better communication – Better virtualization solutions (VDI/VDA) – Removal of programs is negatively impacting us Particular issues • Removal of Student Select 4/1/12 – Replaced with Office University, and no Windows upgrades – Reduction of revenue for schools – Separation of “staff” from eligibility • Only faculty and students are eligible for Personal Use • Virtualization doesn’t satisfy anyone • Schools hear about new programs late in the game, sometimes through public announcements Microsoft CoreCAL Servers • Enrollment for Education Systems (EES) agreement – Ohio State is likely to renew for 1-year • The IUC CIO’s are interested in additional negotiation – Current MS CA is up on June 30, 2013 • Timeline: – Pending PO (hopefully today) Microsoft CoreCAL Server Site License • Includes: – Windows servers (including HPC), and Windows External Connector (not RDS external connector!) – Sharepoint servers, including Sharepoint Server for Internet Sites – Exchange servers and Exchange Standard External Connector – Lync servers and Lync Standard External Connector – Systems Center Config Manager server and server MLs Microsoft SQL Server price increase • With the release of SQL Server 2012, Microsoft is increasing the cost of all SQL Server licenses • SQL is not included in the CoreCAL servers • Prices increase on April 1, 2012: get your quote and put an order in today if you have a large SQL project OCIO DLP RFP • OCIO Security has selected Symantec as our solution – Questions about data in use, Mac support, iOS support, and other key issues led to a rebid and clarification of the requirements SPSS Renewal or Retirement • OCIO Site Licensing and OSU Purchasing are in discussions with SPSS – Final pricing has been received – Avoids increases over last year (typically 10%) – Provides four options for pricing – 12-month cost will be roughly equivalent for departments (last agreement was 18 months, so expect to see a change in price) Anti-Malware • Current McAfee agreement expires on Sept. 30, 2012 – OCIO Site Licensing has negotiated lower pricing with McAfee, for a better product – OSU MedCenter has agreed to fund 1 year for the university; Site Licensing will still maintain the license: new projected expiration: Sept. 30, 2013 • Total Savings: $70,000 university-wide • Additional options are available – Forefront and Microsoft Security Essentials • Student/Home version of Windows McAfee will be retired, replaced with MSE Questions/Comments SLS Request Fulfillment • OCIO Site Licensing has hired consultants to improve the workflow of the download site. Key improvements sought include: – Automation of the checkout process – Elimination of paper agreements – Increased access to packages via download – Improved security – Ability to turn on downloads for specific users if necessary – Ability to view distribution records – Ability to tie software to a department – Large file download and distribution
