– Discussing non-bulk purchases
Adobe Acrobat CLP
• WiredOut is the renewal vendor of choice
for compliance and pricing purposes
• You must renew maintenance on products
within the next 90 days
• The new agreement allows for an ELA for
Acrobat (step 1), and includes clickthrough language: you may now update
Adobe Flash Player!
Adobe Acrobat ELA
• Students were not included in the original
order. Pricing is based on FTE, and will
match your Microsoft Assessment
numbers for FY13
• Distribution expected to be on OSU SLS
• Expected availability: Early next month
(hopefully next week)
• “Upgrades” from Acrobat permitted
• Discussion with some departments
regarding departmental ELA’s for broader
collections
Microsoft Renewal: 6/30/13
• Current Campus Agreement and EES
expire on 6/30/2013. Our agreement is an
IUC contract
• IUC CIO’s have requested a more
strategic contract with Microsoft
– Better communication
– Better virtualization solutions (VDI/VDA)
– Removal of programs is negatively impacting
us
Particular issues
• Removal of Student Select 4/1/12
– Replaced with Office University, and no Windows
upgrades
– Reduction of revenue for schools
– Separation of “staff” from eligibility
• Only faculty and students are eligible for Personal Use
• Virtualization doesn’t satisfy anyone
• Schools hear about new programs late in the
game, sometimes through public
announcements
Microsoft CoreCAL Servers
• Enrollment for Education Systems (EES)
agreement
– Ohio State is likely to renew for 1-year
• The IUC CIO’s are interested in additional
negotiation
– Current MS CA is up on June 30, 2013
• Timeline:
– Pending PO (hopefully today)
Microsoft CoreCAL Server Site
License
• Includes:
– Windows servers (including HPC), and Windows
External Connector (not RDS external connector!)
– Sharepoint servers, including Sharepoint Server
for Internet Sites
– Exchange servers and Exchange Standard
External Connector
– Lync servers and Lync Standard External
Connector
– Systems Center Config Manager server and
server MLs
Microsoft SQL Server price
increase
• With the release of SQL Server 2012,
Microsoft is increasing the cost of all SQL
Server licenses
• SQL is not included in the CoreCAL
servers
• Prices increase on April 1, 2012: get your
quote and put an order in today if you
have a large SQL project
OCIO DLP RFP
• OCIO Security has selected Symantec as
our solution
– Questions about data in use, Mac support,
iOS support, and other key issues led to a rebid and clarification of the requirements
SPSS Renewal or Retirement
• OCIO Site Licensing and OSU Purchasing
are in discussions with SPSS
– Final pricing has been received
– Avoids increases over last year (typically
10%)
– Provides four options for pricing
– 12-month cost will be roughly equivalent for
departments (last agreement was 18 months,
so expect to see a change in price)
Anti-Malware
• Current McAfee agreement expires on Sept. 30,
2012
– OCIO Site Licensing has negotiated lower pricing with
McAfee, for a better product
– OSU MedCenter has agreed to fund 1 year for the
university; Site Licensing will still maintain the license:
new projected expiration: Sept. 30, 2013
• Total Savings: $70,000 university-wide
• Additional options are available
– Forefront and Microsoft Security Essentials
• Student/Home version of Windows McAfee will be
retired, replaced with MSE
