B.I.14 - RESOLUTION ON CREATING AN EFFICIENT TRANSFER SYSTEM “The City University of New York experiences large student transfer flows among all of its undergraduate colleges. To enhance transfer students’ progress toward degree completion, CUNY must insure that students’ credits earned from any CUNY college transfer smoothly and efficiently to all other CUNY colleges. …” http://www.cuny.edu/academics/initiatives/pathways/about/policies.html LM OAA 4/29/13 Who is impacted? • All incoming students in Summer and Fall 2013 • Students who are readmitted for Fall 2013 after more than one semester of absence • Continuing students may opt in to the new programs after consulting with an advisor LM OAA 4/29/13 What has been done so far? • 112 courses have been approved for inclusion in the Common Core • All A.S. programs have been modified to conform to Pathways • A.A. programs are being revised to include the 30 credit Common Core • A.A.S. programs are being revised to include 20-30 credits of Common Core courses LM OAA 4/29/13 What has been done so far? • A.S. programs have obtained waivers to require courses to fulfill some Core Areas: – – – – – – – – Business Administration A.S. LM OAA 4/29/13 If and when to opt in? • Consult with advisor • Should wait until Fall semester when program changes are published • Should be based on which option leads to completion earlier • Use what-if feature in DegreeWorks • Student must sign a form to opt in so degree requirements are changed in registration records. LM OAA 4/29/13 If and when to opt in? Recommendations for students with • 0-15 credits: Opt-in to revised programs with Pathways Common Core • 16-30 credits: Consult with an advisor to evaluate whether to remain in current program or opt in to revised program. • 30 more credits: Remain in current program. • Consult with advisor LM OAA 4/29/13 Thank you Questions?
