Information Brochure on Social Responsibility
Objectives:

The brochure will serve to provide basic information to
the general public on Social Responsibilities

The brochure will outline basic responsibilities of
consumers, industries and policy makers with regards to
social responsibilities

The brochure will serve as the marketing tool and
information to trainees / conference/seminar participants
to disseminate information pertaining to Social
Responsibilities.

Objectives of the training session:

To promote SR among individuals and
organisations
 To have more stakeholder participation
in social responsibility (SR) standards
development – comments,
disseminating information.

peers especially students in institutes of
higher learning.
To encourage SR based thinking among the
future workforce / entrepreneurs

Objectives




Enhance outreach capacity for the promotion of the importance
of social responsibility;
One point communication centre for the national mirror
committee members on ISO WG/SR – for deliberation of draft
standards and working drafts etc.
One point resource centre for national mirror committee
members and other stakeholders seeking information on works
related to SR in Malaysia and at the International level;
The way forward and plans regarding
the use of the standard in Malaysia

Important to emphasize with the development of
an international standards on SR like the ISO
26000, other initiatives in Malaysia should seek to
align their criteria with the guidance standards.

Promote the use of ISO 26000 principles as basis
for awards / CSR practices acknowledgement

Provide support to promote ISO 26000 principles /
guidance at regional level (Asia / South east Asia)
Issues/constraints foreseen related to
the use of the standard in Malaysia



Large number of CSR initiatives produces
challenges in benchmarking CSR performances
among its practitioners.
In Malaysia, it seems most of the CSR initiatives
addresses public relations
Concerns with the ISO 26000 used as barrier to
trade

Issues with some international treaties not ratified
(ILO, UNHR, UNFCCC etc)
