Formato: cm. 14X21
This present time is a rock wall to climb without rope or nails and
whoever gets off balance can only fall. You have chosen to skydive, just as
that time, against the armored vehicles.
Carlo is the "Wolf", a street kid who lives in a suburb of Turin. His father has grown
him into submission and he spent in jail most of his military service. He begins to work
in the sixtoes in a metal shop and by chance he gets in the midst of labour riots,
together with two wild friends. Than for some years he almost vanishes to reappear in
times of need, like a wild animal. His footprints are found during the late eighties, in a
depressed city between reflux and drug addiction, and then again in the No Tav protests
in Val di Susa. Morgan, an activist from a social centre, will untie the knots of a fifty
years long story.
Giaka, born in Turin in 1984, writes in the street, on the roof
of an squatter house while waiting for the dawn, in a van
traveling through Europe or in the woods of Val di Susa.
L'ombra del Lupo is his first book.

AMIANTO. Una storia operaia
ASBESTOS. A working class story
Alegre 2014
Pages: 192
Price: e 14,00
I’m just telling you: read this book. This novel is as huge as a house, the house missing to us,
the home we don’t have.
Wu Ming
A book that is both terrible and beautiful. Pain, amusement, suffering, reflection, sharing.
A cloud of conflicting feelings, that only a true writer is capable of condensing.
From the preface by Valerio Evangelisti
This is the story of Renato, a metalworker that grew up in the second postwar
and that started to work when he was 14 years old. A worker that melted
electrodes in a storm of sparkles, just few steps away huge petrol cisterns. A
man who breathed zinc, lead and a good share of the Mendeleev elements
table, until an asbestos fibre – a material that always surrounded him –
found its way into his chest. Then, right when he retired, that fibre started to
darken his cells, eating his neuronal matter. A rust that he couldn’t smooth
down, a brain damage that couldn’t be sealed.
Amianto is a wild race in memory, between of the iron industries of Piombino,
Tuscany, and the infamous Taranto’s area, from the Liguria refineries to the
factories of Casale Monferrato; between street soccer and Sunday fights along
the via Aurelia. A working-class family saga, featuring electric cables gone wild
and sarcastic anecdotes from the workers’ world.
Popular epic meeting investigative report, a book that re-opens a never-healed
wound, written by a narrative voice that reclaims attention.
Alberto Prunetti is born in Piombino in 1973. His father was a welder and a
pipe fitter. He is the author of the novels Potassa, L’arte della fuga and Il fiorista
di Perón.

La gamba del Felice
DeriveApprodi 2014
128 pp

The novel by Sergio Bianchi is the description in vitro, step by step, of a
process that has a name and a date: the Italian economic miracle, the legendary
Boom which at the end of the ‘50s exploded like an unstoppable virus,
proliferating across the Cisalpine and Cispadane plains and valleys, sweeping
costumes and customs everywhere, local traditions and Catholic taboos,
mentality and dialects.
The daily life in a strip of Lombardy close to the border with Switzerland is
told by a subversive villager, with the eyes of a rebellious teenager, the lighthearted and adventurous spirit of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn put in
the great transformation of these years.
A nominal, real, material, “spoken” writing, a chorus of micro-stories. An
abrupt, violent, without commas punctuation. A word that seems to descend
from another time.
Sergio Bianchi (1957) is editorial director of the publishing house DeriveApprodi. He
edited the essays: L’Orda d’oro. La grande ondata rivoluzionaria e creativa, politica ed
esistenziale (Feltrinelli); La sinistra populista (Castelvecchi); Settantasette. La rivoluzione che viene e
(con Lanfranco Caminiti) the volumes I, II, III de Gli autonomi. Le storie, le lotte, le
teorie (DeriveApprodi). He also edited: Storia di una foto e Le polaroid di Moro, entrambi
pubblicati dalle edizioni DeriveApprodi.

Carnage. The Second Republic ends up in the blood. The blood of Berlusconi, of Fini,
D'Alema, Veltroni, the most powerful trade unionists and journalists. All ripped apart
and their pieces thrown to the dogs. But who commissioned the massacre? What are the
intentions of the new masters of the country? And what will the fate of the country?
A extraordinarily strong, violent, merciless novel . But also a kind of 'Literary pamphlet
"in which the well known journalist Giorgio Dell'Arti gives his personal and original
version of the facts, as could happen, or as yet may occur.
Born in Catania in 1945, Giorgio Dell'Arti has been a professional
journalist since 1969, first in "Paese Sera", then in "la Repubblica" as
senior editor, correspondent, editor in chief, and then director of “Il

Notizie dall'isola di Eufrosine
Manni – Novembre 2014
pp. 200, € 18,00
A compelling and elegant allegorical novel set in a fantastic island, an imaginary timeless
world. A reflection about power in the present time.
Euphrosyne is an ideal country with balanced powers, prosperous economy, a high rate
of happiness and well-being of its inhabitants. As it often happens, there is a disastrous
and sudden fall - from afar a Messiah comes to sow the seeds of envy, suspicion,
demagogy, inciting the people to revolt and overthrow the government. The result is a
civil war and the destruction of the island.
An omniscient narrator tells in detail the history of this legendary place with a refined
style that mimics the language of news reportage and historical journalism. It is a
cultivated and refined novel, rich in allusions to the events of our times, with an ironic
and disillusioned view.
Marco Debenedetti - born in London in 1974, - lives in Rome where he works as as
documentarian for the Chamber of Deputies. He has taught Humanities at the
University of Bari and the University for Foreigners of Perugia. In 2008 he has
published a study on Alfredo Oriani and then edited a number of literary essays, about
Renato Serra, Sandro Penna, Giuseppe Mazzini, Francesco Biamonti and his grandfather
Giacomo Debenedetti.

After the New Year, Taormina is empty but quiet doesn’t come back.
The mysterious death of Efre Vazzini, a scion of a powerful family, at dawn on a

Il salto della rana
di Paola Rondini
Fernandel 2014
Pagine : 144
Prezzo : 12,00 €
In Milan it is early in the morning when, in the vicinity of a crossroad, the attention of
Emma is captured by a car that starts at full speed, swerves and disappears.
From this scene, which takes place in the surreal silence of a deserted town, the journey
of Emma begins, an adventure that takes her and the readers to geographically remote
as well es deeply intimate places, between reality and suggestions, erotic tension and
loneliness, motherly love and abandonment, past and future.
The advertising agency where she works sends her to Arizona for the launch of a new
brand. There, in an ambiguous high-tech structure, "the Cube", creative people meet,
including her project manager, Nikandros. He and Emma are dangerously attracted, and
Emma falls into magnetic and alienating limbo.
Meanwhile in Italy Emma's mother, who suffers from a rare disorder called Joking
disease, is hospitalized in a clinic, where she spends her days in an apparent indifference,
eating beath mints and speaking by rhymes and puns.
People sharing modern alienation and heroic daily battles will to act together in a place
on the border with death, to allow Emma, after flying and swimming, breathing in air
and in water like a frog, "the most beautiful, most perfect of amphibians, " to take a
leap and go back home.
Or all this was just a reverberation of her soul, perhaps nothing actually ever happened.
Paola Rondini was born Città di Castello, where she has come back
after many years spent abroad. Her first successful novel, Miniature
(Fanucci, 2007), has been translated in Germany and Spain. With Il
salto della rana she initiated a new literary path.

Lotto. Slot machine. Bingo
Edizioni Spartaco - 2014

Prezzo: 10,00 €
Three stories of three women – all afflicted by the same disease, gambling addiction.
Three portraits of women with a single vice in three different forms, each of which
takes the protagonists near the cliff edge, on the verge of falling into it. The author says:
“At first I consulted a friend, the owner of a tobacco shop: he told me the history of
this very elegant lady who every morning made the tour of betting shops in the city.
Also, I heard the testimony of a friend who had run a betting shop for two years: he
described the rules he was subject to, including the "advice" not to leave the slot
machines too long unused. Then it was the turn of a social worker who reported
dramatic stories of people who cannot eat, but never stop gambling, of petty theft that
occur in her office and probably the reason is always the same...”

Summary
Did you know Faulkner and Hemingway had a literary feud? And that Norman
Mailer smashed Gore Vidal's face with a jab? Care to find out the reason behind
García Marquez's hostility against Vargas Llosa? And what about Philip Roth and
Jonathan Franzen? They also had a confrontation and then some about writing.
Forget about the humble and polite writers you are used to, this book will offer only
the meaniest clashes, the epic quarrels and the most foul literary duels between
authors (which you may have never heard of), because books also can share some
amount of violence, not only boxing.

involves his readers in a new search for El Dorado: a realm however quite different

Environment and Nature and holds a master's degree in human
rights and conflict management at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna
of Pisa. After working in the field of environmental education,

Magellano e il magizete
Stories of long journeys, high hopes and red eye rabbits
Spartaco 2014

A modern tale for readers of all ages
Columbus blushed. “You know, Armstrong, nobody has been able to tell sea stories like
Conrad. I thought about it a thousand times. I even tried to write the memoirs of my
travels. And every time I re-read a page I found it false. Nothing looks real. My
typhoons put on paper were pathetic. Plastic or paper mache typhoons. I've torn so
many sheets! On the contrary, when reading typhoons as described by Conrad I felt
again the same emotions I really had experienced.”
Reality and fantasy are each the negation of the other or are opposite sides of the same
coin? It is the question that runs through the novel by Guido Trombetti and only in the
last chapter, with a brilliant and unexpected end, finds its answer. The author sets up a
gallery of numbers one, characters that are known to readers of all times and all
latitudes, members of an unlikely and mysterious club of "Explorers and sailors of
yesterday and today."
Guido Trombetti (b. 1949), former rector of the University of
Naples “Federico II”, is Professor of Mathematics at the same
university. Author of and the novel Quando meno te l'aspetti (2010)
and the collection of short mathematical stories I segreti di
Pitagora (2010) as well as texts of mathematical analysis. He has
received awards and recognition in the academic world.
