• Write an essay where you answer one of
the following assignments:
1. Analyse and discuss the thematic function of
plot in "Recitatif”. In your essay, you must
comment on story and plot and story time and

2. Analyse and discuss the thematic function of
characterisation in "Recitatif”. In your essay,
you must comment on character and
characterisation.
3. Analyse and discuss the thematic function of
imagery in "Recitatif”. In your essay you must
comment on figurative language and
conspicuous images.
