King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream Wherewith His spirit was troubled, and his sleep braked from him The Great Image of the Dream Daniel 2:2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. Daniel 2:3 And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream. Daniel 2:4 Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation. Daniel 2:5 The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream – The Great Image – Daniel 2 A Summary of the book of Daniel Date and place: Written from Babylon and Shushan about 606 or 616 to 536 B.C. Author: Daniel the prophet, a captive prince from Judah {Daniel 1:3-6}, an interpreter of dreams and visions {1:17; 2:12-49; 4:8-27; 5:10-13), prime minister under several kings (2:46-49; 5:29; 6:1-3), and prophet of God (7:28; 8:1;9:2123; 10:1-12; 12:1-13). Theme: Prophecies of the Gentiles world kingdoms from Daniel’s day to the Millennium and eternal kingdom of God on earth (2:38-45; 7:17-27; 8:20-25; 9:24-27; 11:40; 12:13). Daniel also records the history of Babylon and Medo-Persian (10:1-11). {The universal theory that the book of Daniel covers the whole length of the time of the Gentiles is false.} Daniel saw these times as happening from his day on, but that does not prove their entire length was predicted by Him. He only saw the World kingdoms that were to oppress Israel from his day to the setting up of God’s Kingdom on earth. He could not predict the history of the oppression of Israel by the Egyptians and Assyrians before his day. There are eight world empires in the times of the Gentiles. Statistics: 27th book of the Bible; 12 chapters; 357 verses; 11,606 words; 16 questions; 218 verses of history; 79 verses of fulfilled and 60 verses of unfulfilled prophecy; 7 commands; 4 promises; and 16 messages from God in the book of Daniel. Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream - The Great Image - Daniel 2 The Times of the Gentiles {Daniel 2:38-45; Luke 31;24} By the term the times of the Gentiles we mean the administration of the Gentiles, as the rod of chastening upon Israel, to further God’s purpose concerning them. It began with Israel’s first oppression by the Gentiles in Egypt, and will continue with the history of Israel through this dispensation of Grace. It will end at the return of the Messiah in glory when he will deliver Israel from the Gentiles and exalt them as the head of all nations in the Millennium and forever {Luke 21:24; “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled”. Further logos; Roman 11:25, Revelation 19:11-20;10}. Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream - The Great Image - Daniel 2 WHAT PART DOES GOD PLAY IN THE AFFAIRS OF NATIONS? Daniel 2:20-21 "Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His: and He changeth the times and the seasons: He removeth kings and setteth up kings: He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.“ The God of the universe presented to Nebuchadnezzar a picture of events to come in order to show him that a power greater than himself was at work in the world. This fact is still true today. Indeed, all rulers are subject to God's decrees. One writer has said: "The power exercised by every ruler on earth is Heaven imparted; and, upon his use of the power thus bestowed, his success depends. To each the word of the divine Watcher is, 'I girded thee, though thou hast not known Me . . Break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity." The divine Watcher said to Nebuchadnezzar, "That the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will" (Daniel 4: 17). Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream – The Great Image - Daniel 2 Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream – The Great Image - Daniel 2 Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream – The Great Image - Daniel 2 Daniel, the “Apocalypse of the Old Testament,” presents a surprisingly detailed and comprehensive account of prophetic history. After an introductory chapter in Hebrew, Daniel switches to Aramaic in chapter 2-7 to describe the future course of the gentile world powers. Then in Daniel chapter 8-12, Daniel reverts to his native language to survey the future of the Jewish nation under gentile dominion. The theme of God’s sovereign control in the affairs of the world history clearly emerges and provides comfort to the future church, as well as to the Jews whose nation was destroyed by the Babylonians. The Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans will come and go, but God will establish His kingdom through His redeemed people forever. Daniel’s three divisions are: the personal history of Daniel {1} the prophetic plan for the Gentiles{2-7}, and the prophetic plan for Israel {8-12}. Key message: is that 2000 years ago, the events of present day society for the end time was predicted by the Almighty God, the Self-Existent One, who is fire all by Himself. Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream – The Great Image - Daniel 2 The Praying Daniel The Book of Daniel is the most quoted book in Revelation. Daniel was a prophet to both Gentile and Jew. Daniel came from a Judean family of nobility and was in his late teens when he and three other young men were deported to Babylon. Note whilst in Babylon the King had ordered that Daniel and his companions were to eat royal fare which included both wine and other foods forbidden for Jews. Daniel and his three friends ate only vegetables and drank water. Daniel lived a life without blame in Babylon. Prophet Ezekiel says he was a model of righteousness {Ezekeil14:14-20; 28:3}. Daniel rose to become prime minister of Babylon. It is interesting to note that Daniel considered his body the Temple of the Holy Spirit, God honoured him. After 10 days of a correct diet, Nebuchadnezzar said he found Daniel and his 3 friends 10 times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in his realm 1:20}. Daniel is the Key to Biblical prophecy, and all the prophecies passages..can only be unlock as we understand the prophecies of the book of Daniel.
