ABILMENTE is confirmed as the reference event for creative and handmade enthusiasts . During the 4 days of the international Expo-‐Atelier for creative crafting , which closed today, Sunday 23 February , 41 thousand visitors filled the pavilions at Fiera di Vicenza . The attendance figures for this first edition of
2014, were excellent, in line with the spring 2013 event, with enthusiasts from all over Italy as well as many visitors from other nations. Over 230 exhibitors took part in the fair, of whom thirty from other countries, including France, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Sweden.
Based on these positive figures, ABILMENTE can already start looking forward to the next events, ready to break the record for total number of visitors – after reaching 100 thousand for 2013 – with the autumn edition , scheduled at Fiera di Vicenza from 16 to 19 October 2014, and above all, thanks to the brand new
ABILMENTE Rome from 14 to 16 November 2014.
« We are happy about this important confirmation from the public, which once again rewards the quality of our exhibitors and their products, the creatives and their performance, and also the hard work of the team from Fiera di Vicenza, » Matteo Marzotto , President of Fiera di Vicenza was keen to tell us. «ABILMENTE is a very current format and doubtless a successful one. It represents a firm example of creative crafting “well done in Italy,” and is able, with dozens of courses, exhibitions and ateliers, to meet the expectations of
Italian and foreign enthusiasts. An event that expresses the very best that practical artisan creativity has to
offer, as well as the strong vocation of Fiera di Vicenza to be international ».
As well as pavilion 1, the event also took place in the new pavilion 7 at Fiera di Vicenza , 15,000 sq m with
large areas, light and airy atmosphere and scenographic setting, presenting a new display layout . With the new extended show ground, the exhibitors, demo areas and ateliers were grouped into large themed areas
(fabric, sewing, embroidery, yarns, paper, colours, jewellery, modelling pastes, and cake design). Thanks to a high-‐ tech infrastructure , new sector routes have made it possible for the public to visit ABILMENTE easily
and to immerse themselves in the areas and themes that interest them the most.
During the four days of the event, patchwork, creative sewing, scrapbooking, decoration, and jewellery enthusiasts were able to appreciate a host of new items, not only on the stands but also in the demo areas of the most important manufacturers and retailers in the industry. The event schedule saw 7 exhibitions , 6 ateliers , 13 demo areas , 2 conferences and over a thousand courses . The most established creative on the international scene enriched the even with their extraordinary skills: Eleonora Giuffrida from Miss Cake,
Gaia Segattini from Vendetta Uncinetta, Simona Girelli, Dario Cestaro, Nunzia De Feo, and Elisabeth
Nacenta.
The most important events included an eclectic dance performance, “Intrecci” , by director Annadora
Scalone with Gruppo Duende, who inaugurated the Event in the centre of the new pavilion 7 of Fiera di
Vicenza, around the installation “La Clessidra”(“The hourglass”) curated by DAMSS -‐ Daniela Arnoldi &
Marco Sarzi Sartori. The construction, the symbolic work of this spring edition of ABILMENTE is 6 metres high and built from five vertical elements in wood, set out like an hourglass with a pentagonal base. 55,000 metres of yarn support the 3,300 different weaves hanging to represent the interactions among the many people who were at the event, as well as the creativity and quality of the great work carried out at the
Expo.
Other events worthy of mention are the conference “Creativity as a source of personal fulfilment, opportunity and business” promoted by MOICA (Italian Housewives’ Movement),and the workshop “New opportunities: how to transform handmade sales from off-‐line to on-‐line”, promoted by the portal
“Misshobby.com”.
