Founded in 1992 and named after the 13th Century
philosopher and leader Hacı Bektas Veli and the town
of Hacıbektaş, HEKDER is a non-profit association.

The boarding committee of our organization consists
of 7 members (4 Male, 3 Female), of various
professions such as a legal consultant, and two
financial advisors, respecting gender equality.

Our organization performs an active role on
spreading the ideas of Hacı Bektas Veli based on
humanism, equality, justice, tolerance and
wisdom.

The center of the organisation is in Ankara – the
capital of Turkey- and the two branches are in
the holy town of Hacıbektaş and İzmir, which is a
modern Mediterranean city.

The initial aim of the organisation is to inform
people on the culture and thought of Bektashism
and to protect the cultural heritage of
Hacıbektaş.

HEKDER
implements
programmes
on
educating
disadvantaged
people
to
integrate them to the conditions
in life and on folkloric dance
(semah) and traditional music to
transfer the Bektashi traditions
to new generations.

The
organisation
also
publishes
a
periodical
journal, booklets and books
on various topics. We
occasionally
organise
conferences on important
issues
regarding
the
philosophy of Hacıbektaş.

In the organisation many adult training activities
are realised such as courses related to folkloric
dance (semah), Turkish Folk Music Chorus, Turkish
Classical Music Chorus.

activities

demonstrated by many
occasions such as public
concerts,
shows
and
theater
performances
with the participation of a
number of spectators.

Our association operates a sorority at Hacibektas
district.
Each year, students living in the dormitory need, as
well as a variety of other university students, provide
scholarships unrequited.
Also supports donations and provide a variety of high
school in the district of Hacibektas.
