A: Bribery in various forms has been on the
increase for centuries. For example, what if
during a negotiation the other side asks for a
bribe? It is easier said than done to stick to high
moral standards. For in a time of ever-greater
competition, more than ever, a businessman finds
it impossible to keep a buyer happy while clinging
to his moral conscience. In effect, bribery has
become a fact of commercial life.

A. To prohibit bribery, ICC favors setting up a code
of conduct that would ban the giving and seeking of

But when it comes to how to enforce the code,
opinions differ among members of the ICC. For the
businessmen today, it is indeed hard to square the
business interests with moral conscience.

Para. 1
Para. 2
Para. 3a
Para. 3b
Para. 4a
Para. 4b
Para. 5
Para. 6a
Para. 6b
Para. 7a
Para. 7b
Para. 8
Para. 9
Para. 10
Para. 11
