SATURNINA RIZAL (1850-1913)
Saturnina Rizal was the eldest sister of Philippine national hero Jose
Rizal.
She was born on June 4, 1850, in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines, and died
on September 14, 1913, in Tanauan, Batangas, at the age of 63.
Saturnina Rizal was married to Manuel T. Hidalgo, a prominent figure in
Tanauan, Batangas.
She had five children with Manuel Hidalgo: Alfredo, Adela, Abelardo,
Amelia, and Augusto.
Saturnina Rizal was instrumental in the translation of Jose Rizal's novel,
"Noli Me Tangere," into Tagalog, making his work accessible to a wider
Filipino audience.
Her life and contributions are significant in Philippine history,
particularly in supporting her brother's endeavors and advocating for
women's health

Jose Rizal is a Filipino nationalist, writer, and polymath.
He was born on June 19, 1861, in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines.
Rizal was a patriot, physician, and man of letters, inspiring the
Philippine nationalist movement.
He advocated for peaceful reform of Spain's colonial rule in the
Philippines.
Rizal wrote two prominent novels, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El
Filibusterismo," criticizing Spanish colonial abuses and
advocating for reforms.
Despite not directly supporting independence, his works and
influence contributed to the Philippine Revolution against Spain.
Rizal was arrested, exiled to Dapitan, and later imprisoned in
Fort Santiago before being executed by a firing squad on
December 30, 1896.
He is also a Philippine National Hero
