This study aims to assess the influences of Grade Retention on the Psychosocial Integration of
High School Retainers of Bagumbayan National High School. Specifically, this study seeks to
answer the following questions:
1. What is the Demographic Profile of the respondents in terms of;

c. Number of retained year/s
2. What are the influences of Grade Retention on the Psychosocial Integration in terms of:

Parental Permission for Children's Participation in Research
Title: BEYOND THE GRADE: A DESCRIPTIVE EXPLORATION OF GRADE RETENTION
INFLUENCES ON THE PSYCHOSOCIAL INTEGRATION OF BAGUMBAYAN NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL RETAINERS, SCHOOL YEAR 2023-2024.
Introduction
The purpose of this form is to provide you (as the parent of prospective research study participant) with
information that may affect your decision as to whether or not your child participates in this research study. The
students performing the research will describe the study to you and answer all your questions. Read the information
below and ask any questions you might have before deciding whether or not to give your permission for your child
to take part. If you decide not to let your child be involved in this study, this form will be used to record your
permission.
Purpose of the study
Once you agree, your child will be asked to participate in a research study about being a Grade Retainer
student of Bagumbayan National High School and how it Influence your Child's Psychosocial Integration. This
study aims to assess the impacts of Grade Retention on the Academic Engagement Motivation of High School
Retainers of Bagumbayan National High School Year 2023-2024.
What task will my child be expected to do?
Once you allow your child to participate in this study, they will be asked to state their personal information
such as Age, Gender, Grade Level and Number of Retained Years, and they are also expected to answer the survey
questionnaire that will be given to them about the Impacts of Grade Retention on the Psychosocial Integration of
retained students looking into an intervention in terms of social relationship, well-being, self-efficacy, adaptability,
and sense of purpose. The date of distributing survey questionnaires will be on March 19, 2024. and there will be 52
retained students (34 male and 18 female) from different sections that will be part of this study.
What are the risks involved in this study?
The researchers would only explore and assess the impacts of Grade Retention on the Academic
Engagement Motivation of High School Retainers of Bagumbayan National High School Year 2023-2024 and there
are no identified risks associated with participating in this study.
What are the possible benefits of this study?
Participation may have the following advantages: This study will help the retained students to optimize
their study habits and cultivate effective psychosocial integration that promotes social and emotional developments.
This could also help the students to understand the behavior of their co-students who are retained. Aside from those,
Parents and Guardians could also encourage their children to actively join class activities such as teach proper
interactive etiquette and understand the importance of empathy to people.
Does my child have to participate?
No, your child's involvement in this research is entirely optional. Your child is free to decline or to
discontinue participation at any moment. There will be no negative effects on their relationship with Bagumbayan
National High School from their withdrawal or refusal to participate. You are under no obligation to continue with
the study if you decide later on not to allow your child to participate.
Furthermore, this research study will happen during scheduled classroom activities; if you prefer your child not to
participate in the study, there will be other options. While the survey questionnaires are being distributed, the
students will still be working on the task for their subject teacher.
What if my child does not want to participate?

In addition to your participation, your child must agree to participate in this study. If your child does not
want to participate, they will not be included in the study and there will be no penalty. If your child initially agrees
to be in this study, they can change their mind later without any penalty.
Will there be any compensation?
There is no payment associated with this study. You and your child will not be compensated in any way for
taking part in this research.
How will your child's privacy and confidentiality be protected if s/he participates in this research study?
You can feel secure knowing that any information gathered will be kept private and used solely for educational
reasons.
Data that can be connected to your children will be kept private to the degree allowed by law in the event that the
School Review Board needs to examine the study records. Until a court order or legal requirement dictates
otherwise, your child's research records will not be disclosed without your permission. Future researchers may have
access to the data generated by your child's involvement for studies not specifically mentioned in this consent form.
In these situations, there won't be any identifying information in the data that may link it to your child or their
involvement in any study.
