Function
Lesson Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
1. define function;
2. identify the representation of function; and
3. understand vertical line test.
FUNCTION
• It is a type of relation between two sets of elements in which each element
in the first set corresponds in one and only element in the second set.
Represenation of Function
1. Table of Values
➔ It shows the correspondence between the set of values of x and y in
a tabular form.

3. Set of Ordered Pairs
➔ {(1, -2), (33, -34), (25, -26), (17, -18)}
➔ {(5,30), (12,30), (21,30), (32,30)}

VERTICAL LINE TEST
➔ A test use to determine if a relation is a function. A relation is a function
if there are no vertical lines that intersect the graph more than one
point.
A. LET’S PRACTICE
Identify if each graph is representing a function or not.

B. LET’S PRACTICE
Tell whether each item specifies a function or not a function.
