The survey of youth during COVID-19 outbreak
The COVID-19 epidemic has had long-term consequences for young people's schooling.
COVID-19 has quietly and rapidly spread around the globe since its first case was identified
Wuhan, China, in December 2019. It is clear that COVID-19's indirect effects will have longterm negative consequences for the general populace, even after the pandemic is finished.
Persons between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age are not considered to be among the COVID19 risk groups, as opposed to those in older age groups or those with pre-existing health
conditions. However, the indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by some countries are
persons between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age.
With the implementation of lockdowns, the situation has exacerbated, and many tertiary
education institutions have been forced to close, postponing the completion of education for kids
around the world. Long periods of unemployment in youth have disproportionate and long-term
repercussions on income and mental health beyond the economic downturn, as well as risks of
concurrent unemployment. Furthermore, incorrect information about COVID-19 has been
spreading at the same rate as the virus. Formal (newspapers and press releases) and informal
(social media, internet reviews, family and peer opinions) sources of information have both
helped to raise public knowledge while also instilling fear, prejudice, and insecurity.
While the findings of this survey do not represent the views of the billions of young
people who live around the world, they do reflect youth opinions and attitudes concerning
COVID-19. The findings of this report will be shared with the World Health Organization,
UNESCO, and youth organizations so that appropriate actions can be taken in the future to better
deliver health-related information to youth and to address current fears and concerns that young
people may have about the pandemic.
